The model's market view

Small caps have outperformed in 2026, but the backdrop is hostile: the 10-year Treasury yield is near 5.25%, the Fed has hiked and hawkish talk is rising, oil is around $90, and AI-disruption fears are hitting software, services and financials. In this setting, extreme upside needs a real operating inflection, not just multiple expansion. Few candidates combine that with a market cap under $5B, so several picks below fall short of some screens. Where I could not confirm a figure, I say so instead of filling it in. Research was limited to what I could reach in one session, so treat the list as a best-effort screen and not an exhaustive search.

Why each pick

PRE

Prenetics (Nasdaq: PRE) is now mostly the IM8 consumer health and longevity supplement brand. Q2 2026 total revenue was $46.5M (up about 288% year over year), and IM8 revenue was $45.0M (up about 359%), the sixth straight record quarter. Management raised FY2026 IM8 revenue guidance to $220-230M, guides FY2027 IM8 revenue above $400M and December 2026 IM8 ARR of $300M or more, and reports its first consolidated adjusted free-cash-flow-positive month in July 2026, expected to stay positive from Q3. At a market cap near $0.4B against a $220-230M FY2026 revenue guide, the valuation is low relative to the growth rate. Notes on data quality: market cap is derived by me (about $23.47 x roughly 16.8M shares implied by an Aug 18 $326.85M cap at $19.46) and is not a fresh quote. Prenetics is a Cayman-incorporated Nasdaq-listed issuer that files 20-F/6-K forms, so it should be checked against the US-listed common stock requirement. Average daily dollar volume is likely near or below the $5M floor (about 213K shares per day in March at roughly $20 per share) and is unconfirmed for September.

ETON

Eton Pharmaceuticals (Nasdaq: ETON) sells rare-disease and pediatric endocrine products. Q2 2026 revenue was $37.6M versus $18.9M a year earlier (about 99% growth) and well above the roughly $27.1M consensus. Net income was $11.58M in Q2 versus $1.55M in the prior quarter. Management raised FY2026 revenue guidance twice in 2026 ($110M, then more than $120M, then at least $145M) and raised adjusted EBITDA guidance. Growth comes from the HEMANGEOL acquisition (relaunched May 1), the March 2026 DESMODA launch, and strong growth across the portfolio. The stock already rose about 280% year to date to $59.49 on Sept 24, near its $66.37 high, so valuation is much less compressed than for the other picks. Multibagger capacity depends on a much larger portfolio and continued beat-and-raise.

CNXC

Concentrix (Nasdaq: CNXC) is a deep-value option, not a growth story. The market cap is about $1.49B, down about 50% from a year ago, while management guides FY2026 adjusted free cash flow of $630-650M and non-GAAP EPS of $10.83-$11.18 (cut in June). That implies a forward P/E near 2x and a very high free-cash-flow yield. The market is pricing in AI-driven disruption of customer-experience outsourcing and heavy leverage. A rebound needs evidence that margins and revenue hold. This pick fails the growth screen and has no clear margin inflection: Q2 FY2026 revenue was $2.46B (up about 2% year over year), gross margin fell to about 33.4% from about 35.1%, non-GAAP EPS was $2.63 versus $2.70, and net income for the trailing year is negative after a $1.52B goodwill impairment in Q4 FY2025. Average daily dollar volume is unconfirmed (only intraday volume of about 65K shares at 9:42 AM was seen).

NVTS

Navitas Semiconductor (Nasdaq: NVTS) is repositioning from mobile chargers to high-power GaN and SiC chips for AI data centers. Q2 2026 revenue was $10.5M (up 22% sequentially, with high-power markets up more than 50% year over year) and non-GAAP gross margin was 39.5%. Q3 guidance is $13.0-$14.0M (28% sequential growth) at about 39.7% gross margin, and Q4 revenue is expected to be about one-third AI infrastructure. It raised $373M and ended Q2 with $557M of cash, which covers runway well beyond 12 months. On Sept 28 it announced selection by the US Army for the ALATTIS 10 kV SiC program. This is the most speculative pick on valuation: the price-to-sales ratio is above 100x, so a 3x from $3.06B needs an implausibly large revenue base. It stays in the five because the balance sheet, gross-margin trend and catalyst calendar are stronger than most alternatives I could verify. Market cap is the Sept 28 close-based figure; the price was about $12.82 pre-market on Sept 29.

UEC

Uranium Energy Corp (NYSE American: UEC) reported FY2026 (year ended July 31, 2026) results on Sept 29. It is becoming a multi-mine US uranium producer with no debt. Q4 production was 82,744 lb versus 32,195 lb in the prior quarter (up 157%), and cost per pound fell 33%. It sold 400,000 lb from inventory at $93.13 per lb, giving FY2026 revenue of $37.3M (down 44% year over year) and gross profit of $16.9M. It reports $753M of liquid assets and no debt, and it lists Burke Hollow, Ludeman and Sweetwater development plus a planned conversion facility. This is a high-beta option on uranium prices and production execution, and it is the weakest pick on reverse valuation. The market cap is already near the $5B ceiling (about $4.66B) at a price-to-sales ratio above 200x, and the stock is far below its $20.34 52-week high.
